Winners have been selected for the awesome Smartbomb remix contest held by the illustrious Computer Music Magazine....

Rob Focuz + Secureunit with their awesome breaks meets dubstep "smartblonde" remix!

Perfect dancefloor vibes and a hard hitting break along with an amazing progression made this the sure winner.

Not far behind were:

Nu-Fu with his awesome leftfield twist-up of the original. Again great use of the parts and a really wicked groove made this one of the top entries.

And last but not least, Kai Project, who turns in a giant chunky version that has freight train beats and again, a wonderful use of the source material.

Thanks to ALL who entered - hope you had a great time doing the remix and as mentioned before - feel free to use your entry for any and all promo purposes you would like to!

Long Range - Dispel The Clouds out now! // Posted Sep 05, 2009

About Long Range:
It would have been justifiable for both Phil Hartnoll and Nick Smith to take it easy instead of starting Long Range. Both had already achieved so much – Phil as half of techno legends Orbital, and Nick with his sound design and music work on films like Hannibal - but both still have plenty more to offer. Their stunning debut album ‘Madness & Me’ drew in the talents of producers Ben Burns, Jimmy Day and Toby May and showed they could surpass their previous glories. A cinematic trawl right across dance music, it covered atmospheric soundscapes and pure dancefloor belters. Their sound echoes the classic widescreen Orbital sound of old, while updating it with layers of Nick’s sonic understanding. Crossing genres without fear, it’s the latest installment in a project that promises to head further past expectations.

Myagi Remix:
A huge rolling breaks affair, Myagi shows off slick production skills and his ability to weave together both serene and intense elements into a huge dancefloor experience. Declared an "instant classic" by some and referred to by Phil Hartnoll (Long Range / Orbital) as one of his favorite remixes to ever have done to his material, this tune is a great indication of things to come from Myagi.

Lee Coombs: No stranger to remixing big artists, Lee does this track proud, taking it into synth driven house territory. In a similar vein to his remix of New Orders "Crystal," he lets the incredible songwriting of the original shine through, but as one of the UK's best known (and unwaivering) acid house junkies, manages to inject it with a moody tension and some incredible synth sequences.

Support from: The Crystal Method, Jon Carter, Drummatic Twins, Soul Of Man, etc etc

Vespers - This Is The Beat feat Myagi and Groove Diggerz mixes! // Posted Jul 14, 2009

Vespers - This Is The Beat EP - Pop And Lock - PAL07

1 - Original Mix
2 - Groove Diggers Dangerous Remix
3 - Funky People Myagi Remix

Myagi's Pop And Lock imprint, hot off the back of the monster EPs "Monolith" and "The Heat / Fireball" delivers this wicked release by Canadian west coast DJ and producer Vespers.

"This is the Beat" is a tough but melodic funky affair, full of hardcore synth hooks and stabs, all tied together by a rolling bass groove that grabs your hindquarters and shakes em hard. Super smooth production and hard hitting drums combine to give us the first of what are sure to be many dancefloor bangers from this guy!

Up next, one of the most prolific and respected acts to emerge from the UK's broken beat scene in recent years, the Groove Diggers take the original and flip it on its head b-boy style. Taking the hooks from the original, the Diggers threw a Mic to Breakin Even signing Fella who lays down some smooth flow over top turning this track into an essential summertime floor filler.

Finally, not to be left out of a release on his label, PAL honcho Myagi steps up to the plate with his huge remix of Vespers track "Funky People." Mosh pit worthy guitar riffs, soulful vocals and a massive acidic rolling bassline are all punctuated by drums that go for the jugular. Then there's the buildups and breakdowns that multiply all that by a thousand - one for the late nights, this track carries balls in bulk and rounds off a huge release.

Myagi remixes // Posted May 28, 2009

Just finished a couple remixes that are sounding super hot - one for Breakin Even (Kickflip - Wonky Science) and one for Nick Thayer (Morning Sun)......both are bizarro party house and I couldn't be happier with em!

Expect some preview action on my myspace soon!

Myagi - Monolith - Out April 20! // Posted Mar 27, 2009

Myagi - Monolith - Pop And Lock

Original
Myagi Acid Funk Breaks Remix
Jake Chec Remix

Myagi's "Pop And Lock Records" is heating up - the ridiculously good "How To Test" ep is chased by this triple heater of Myagi tracks fronted by the prog meets minimal meets electro "Monolith" - chunky big techy house beats combine with raspy bass, fidgety synth hits and a melodic bittersweet lead to create a huge combo that defies genre limits and plots new territory for the label.

Myagi's "acid funk breaks" remix is a huge nu-skool-y broken beat affair with monster leads and a build that evokes old acid big beat. Rolling breaks and synths punch with a huge sub and the whole thing blows up with a tweaked out screaming acid line that squeals with the best of them.

Jake Chec turns in a blinder of a remix, grabbing the best parts of the original and taking the track into prog house territory - big kicks, and acid bassline and a huge breakdown - a monster reworking of a huge original - big rolling Giorgio Moroder-esque house breaks down into a big melodic breakbeat affair and then pulls it all back to a pounding finish. Killer!
